Ever wondered what 20 years of PPF baking onto your headlights looks like?

I tried sanding, and knew this wasn't going to be a typical set of headlights. I used steam to loosen the adhesive up, and make it easier to remove. Followed by a plastic razor blade to help get the excess glue off, before using a liquid adhesive remover to clean the rest up. This took about an hour a side, but what a difference itll make for this customer! Being able to see in the dark is incredibly important when you live somewhere that is dark from 4pm until 8am. 😭🤣

Hi friends. 👋 I thought, with the start of the new year, I'd hop on here and introduce myself/add some life updates to my page. 🫶

Welcome to the chaos. My name is Savannah, Sav for simplicity. I've been on this spinning rock for 32 years, which feels surreal to say, because I'm pretty sure I'm still 17. 🤔 I am a huge lover of Scooby-Doo, Hot Wheels, ROCKS (crystals but all rocks, rock. 🪨). I have 3 dogs and 3 cats at home, so when you are embarrassed about the pet hair in your car, trust me, I know ball. 😆 I've got an 11-year-old step daughter, who is the absoute light of my life- I've been in her life since she was 2, so we've done a lot of growing up together. 💛 I am a huge music lover- I've always got my headphones in and I'm jamming to whatever Spotify DJ has for me that day. My absoute favourite artists are Joyner Lucas, Mac Miller, Van Halen, Bring Me The Horizon, Kid Cudi & Neck Deep. I drive a 1992 Geo Tracker and a 1998 4runner. I love the 90s. Lol.
I've been running Savvy Detailing since October 2021, so this is my 5th year in business, which is pretty kick-ass for a one woman show, with no back-up plan. This was Plan A, B, C, D....Z. There's no rich husband, or dad, there's no inheritance or funding. This business is run purely by passion, and insanely great customers. 🫶 Speaking of dad- another unfortunate part of my story, is that I lost my dad in Nov 2024.. 6 days before I turned 31. My dad was a healthy, active, AWESOME man, and one day, he just wasnt here anymore, and that really changed everything for me. It changed how I appear in the world, and how I operate my business. It gave me a fresh set of eyes to view the world, in which I existed and created, and made me seriously reflect on a lot. Savvy Detailing got me through the death of my dad- so many of you stepped up for me, and held my hand while I walked this new normal. So many of you gave me hope that I could survive this. Never in a million years did I think that total strangers would be the people to pull me through, but you guys really did.. and I'm nothing if not incredibly humbled and blessed to have the best customers.

🌞Today marks 4 years since I made the jump into being a business owner. I had worked as a bartender for most of my adult life, then moved into road construction, before I found my first detailing job. I loved the labour of cleaning a car, but I found that many workplaces were incredibly toxic. Being a woman in the automotive industry automically set me up for many people's negative opinions and doubts. Many days I spent daydreaming about running my own shop, and making my own decisions. One fateful Friday afternoon, I finally hit a wall at my last job. I was tired of running someone else's business, and getting no credit, I was tired of being the best version of myself, for a business that would replace me within the hour. I knew I deserved better, and I knew that customers deserved better. I knew if I was going to amount to anything, I was going to need to start standing up for myself. And so I did just that. And by 5pm that day, Savvy Detailing was born.

Savvy Detailing has been one of the best, scariest, fun, stressful things I've ever done. I remember when I first started I thought, "I don't have any investors, I don't have any outside capital, I don't have anything to start this with but $400 in my pocket." I thought that if I was going to achieve any form of success, I'd need all this money and product right from the start, or I'd be a failure. But little by little, I built up my clientele. I focused on making my customers happy first, and soon enough, my little home shop was too small, and I needed more space. I moved into Bay #3 in May 2022. This was incredibly scary, because this felt "real." This felt like the first "professional' step i took- my bills were going to be much larger, and I would need to work extra hard. And again- I did just that. I worked day in and day out, very rarely every taking time off or vacations.

Until November 7, 2024. The day my daddy died. My best friend. The person who shaped me into everything I am today. The person who always supported me and pushed me to be the best version of myself. It broke me. He wasn't sick, I didn't have "time to prepare." He was here, and then one day he wasn't. And that has, by far, been the h

🫶 Just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who saw my dad's truck last weekend and gave me a hug or took a picture of it, or asked about my daddy.

Many nights, I've sat outside in -30, crying and hugging this truck, feeling like this is all I have left of him. This truck means more to me than I would ever be able to put into words. From the off-coloured blue carpet that my dad picked out, to the 444 license plate- I know he's with me and he always will be.

Anyways- this has nothing to do with detailing and more to do with being incredibly thankful for the friends and customers I have, who allow me space for these complex emotions, and it's never swayed you from supporting my business. Thank you guys. Thank you. 🫶

💫 Goodbye Worn-Out PPF 💫

The PPF in the door cups of this Tundra were turning yellow/brown, and the owner wanted it removed, so I thought I'd show you a little of my process. I prefer to use steam over a heat gun, but both will help loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove. 🌞
You will need an adhesive remover, like Goo Gone, Pro Form or any citrus-based solvent, to clean up the residue left behind. This is a fairly simply process on small areas, but once you do larger areas, like a hood or bumper, prepare your fingers and back to hurt for the next week... lol.

Anyways- now that I have these nice, beautiful new shops, I'm going to try to post more videos explaining what I do and my process. 🫶

*and yes, I promise I have a nice industrial steam cleaner, but she's having some work done at the moment, so my trusty mucculoch got pulled out of the depths of storage. 😆

🫶 Welcome to Bay 7 & 8 🫶

I started this little business in October 2021, working out of the shop at my house, which was only heated with a wood-burning stove. I woke up at 5am some days just to have a fire started and warm enough that I could detail in -30.

In May 2022, i was given the opportunity to move into a bay that someone was using as storage. It was "my" first shop, though I shared it with the items being stored. It did the job. It provided me a building that I could feel good about running a business from. Bay 3 was my first real home for my business. It gave me so many opportunities to grow and expand- and expand it did...

Now it's April 2025, and I'm standing in 1600+ sq feet that belongs to ME. It's been three and a half years of endless work, endless grinding, endless learning, endless forward momentum... and i wouldn't be here without you guys. I wouldn't have been able to live this dream, if it wasn't for the support and love from all of you. From liking and sharing posts to coming to me for work, and everything in between, I am eternally grateful to wake up today and be where I am.

💔 On November 7th, 2024, I lost my daddy. On November 20th 2024, I lost my ride or die fur best friend of 10 years.

Truthfully, things are incredibly hard. Every day is touch and go for me. Especially when it comes to work. It is another type of hell to need the full capacity of my brain to operate my business when I can barely leave the house.

Please just have some patience with me. Whether that be in waiting for my responses or the work taking longer than usual. Everything is difficult for me right now, and I could really use some grace and patience.

✨️ hello I am awkward ✨️

Back in September, I had the privilege of being asked to participate in a collaboration with @revivify.canada and their other female installers across Alberta. 😊 I have never found myself in front of a camera in this capacity, and it really took me out of my comfort zone. 😆 It was so much fun being around other female installers and getting to learn about all their businesses. The energy in that room was crazy- so many talented, inspiring, badass women. I'm so thankful and blessed to even be grouped in with these incredible ladies. 🥰

Anyways- here's a little bit of my "story," and how I ended up here. 🤙 Detailing kind of just fell into my lap after leaving a really toxic workplace, and it changed my whole life and perspective. I am so thankful I found something that gave me purpose, and I'm so thankful that my passion also pays my bills.

A huge shout out to @thepaintcorrector for being a huge reason why I got into this industry. You are the best brother and support system a girl could ask for. Thank you for showing me the ropes since day one.

💛 Three Years of Savvy Detailing 💛

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I've been a business owner for three years already. I've been given so many amazing opportunities because of this little business of mine. I've seen more of the world in three years than I have my entire adult life. 🌎 I'm so incredibly thankful and blessed to still be standing here today and continuing to grow beyond my wildest dreams. There never was a backup plan. This was Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 3 and Plan infinity for me.🤙 I knew I needed to make this work because I wanted it more than I've wanted anything in my life. It wasn't even about making a bunch of money and getting rich. It was about being happy. It was about feeling fulfilled in my career. It was about being able to make time for the important things in life while still being able to support myself and my family. It was about me. And boy, did I make myself proud... 🥺😊
Anyways, all this is just to say that you deserve to be happy. Whatever that looks like. Whether that's being an entrepreneur, or a stay-at-home mom, a teacher, a nurse... anything. Build a life you love, and don't be afraid of change. There is so much beauty in the unknown- you just have to jump in. 💕

🏁 Metallic paint scientifically adds horsepower.

This Lil Colorado was back in the shop after a little over a year since the last time I saw it. This time, it was a whole different colour. 😆 The paint had some light rotary marks from the body shop, so i zipped those out, and was able to have the perfect canvas for a @revivify.canada 4 year self-healing nano coating. 🤙 Just in time for SMW, too! ✨️ 1997 Honda Prelude

The oxidization on this paint was some serious stuff. I've done quite a few oxidization polishes in my lifetime, and this was, by far, the most heavily covered vehicle I've done while also being the newest oxidized vehicle I've done. 😅 After I removed the surface oxidization, there were some harsh scratches and etched paint underneath that needed to be addressed. ✂️ After many hours and tons of product and pads, I found myself in a pickle, with the paint being unreceptive to my finish polishing. The paint started to fight me at this point, so I took a step back and had to figure out a new plan of attack. 🤓This meant that I would not be able to ceramic coat the car afterward, as I had planned, as I could not get the finish to work. I ended up doing a test spot of sealant to see if the issue was hydration... and it was. The paint is starving to be hydrated, and when I'm polishing it, I'm not helping that, rather, hindering it.🧽 A sealant can not only add a little protection but also rehydrate your tired paint, and bring it back to life. In the simplest way, it's that "wet look" on a car, even when it's not wet. So we ended up sealing the car, so that it can have some time to soak in, and really bring the shine of the paint out. Then we can re-adress it in a couple months, and ceramic coat it as planned! 😁

So here she is- SHINY & protected 🤙

🕷 Back to Black 🕷

What a freakin' labour of love. This C10 came into my shop for a "finish polish and coat." Fast forward two weeks- after fighting with hundreds of pigtails and sanding marks, she's done. I was able to get the paint back to black, instead of a hazy grey colour.
The whole truck got finished in @revivify.canada lite. Paint, windows, wheels, trims, chrome, bumpers, box, and inside of the box, for that all-around protection. 💎
I poured my heart and soul into this truck after my grandpa passed away. This gave me a project and a purpose to keep my head screwed on straight. I'm so thankful every day that I've found a line of work that I love, and I feel so passionate about. Somedays, owning a business is hard af, and it takes everything out of you, but good customers and friends remind me why I continue to do this. I'm so thankful for this journey.

⏮️ Let's go back to 1940! ⏮️

This 1940 Ford Deluxe was freshly painted around a year ago, but while they were waiting for parts, and doing assembly, the paint got beat-up pretty hard! Between overspray and swirls and scuffs, it ended up being a lot bigger of a job than initally predicted! From start to finish, it was around 30 hours of cleaning and correction! I spent somewhere around 4-5 days, on and off, getting the paint up to perfection before it was coated with @revivify.canada 5 year self-healing coating, for that ultimat3 gloss and protection!

I had an absolute blast working on this project for the sweetest guy! Thanks again Denny! I appreciate the trust in this project!

Back in January, I filmed this on a slow day, and didn't do anything with the footage. Lol. Trying to do better at this social media thing. 🤓 Here's a start - to - finish look at what I do when I polish a vehicle. This included a rinseless wash, which is usually substituted with a proper wash with a pressure washer... I just wasn't going to do that when it was-40•c outside, LOL. 🌞 From wash, to clay, to compound to finish polish.

* This is my personal vehicle, and this was a day I was not booked. I wouldn't leave a customers vehicle with one polished door. 😆 Promise! *
